Dunk. A ball. A donut. A friend in the pool.

This is a Nike High-Top Dunk, my favorite type of shoe. I wanted to paint something inanimate and simple, to just get the feel for Painter.

I'll probably do a lot more experimenting with this, but today I just wanted to paint some flat areas that still had a little bit of variation and a natural look to them.

Not too exciting, I guess. Sorry.

EDIT : 02.25.08

Now that I'm getting the feel for Painter, I went back and played around a little more to make it something more interesting. To me.

I'm still not done.

no smock needed.

I picked up Corel Painter this weekend. I'm having a hell of a time wrapping my head around it.

I can tell it's awesomely powerful and I've seen tons of people who do amazing work using it. But coming from hardcore Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator use, it's hard to adjust to it's special brand of logic.

Infact, half of the time I swear it's downright broken. But I know that, like anything else, I just need to learn the tools and practice, practice, practice. And practice.

the text is true. so damn cute.

pink hearts, yellow moons, orange stars, and green clovers

St. Patrick's Day is coming. Do you know how I know?

Not because I'm Irish. Because I'm not. I don't think.

Not because I have amazing plans, because I don't (unless you consider sitting home alone playing Super Smash Bros "having plans").

Not because a caught a Leprechaun. Yeah right, I wish.

Give up? It's because I did the St Patrick's Day themed illustration for this week's City Pages A-List!

look at this picture and then pretend you actually had a city pages sitting in front of you and you're casually flipping through it while sipping on a Latte at the alternative coffee shop of your choice... now you know what it's like to see it in person.

And below is the original file. As you can see, it's bright. I was trying to compensate for the newsprint washing the color out a little. So the newsprint one actually looks closer to what I had envisioned.

look, that guy is suspiciously Leprechaun-y. he's even carrying around a glowing pot o' gold. but at the same time, he's pretty normal. what's the deal with that guy?

It was a very tight deadline. I wish I could have had more time, but life's funny like that sometimes.

All in all, it was a good time. Or should I say, it was a "top o' the mornin' time?"

No. I probably shouldn't say that because it makes no sense.
