A Day in the Life website?!?

Do you know my other blog, A Day in the Life? You don't? Well, you should.

You should also know that A Day in the Life officially has its own site,
http://24inthelife.com!

OMG! rejoice!

I'm not sure where it will go from here, but that's what A Day in the Life is all about, unstructured, unchaperoned fun...

flower = fire power

I've been doing some illustrations for DG Inventive in my spare time. Here's one that I thought came out pretty cool.

It's for a Target stationery release, so it's just a nice, safe image.

fun fact : i used reference to draw these flowers, and that's the real latin name. ...wait. that's not a "fun fact." that's a "boring fact."

Phase...Arms!

Alright, here are some arms. What to they belong to? See previous posts phase one and phase two. Also see our News Blurb for a little bit more info about the entire project.)

front. the front of the arms

back. the back of the arms.

So that's it! I'm opting out of the ears, (see the original sketch). I like how the skull works with the shape of the body, and I feel like the ears are just a distraction. They would push it to just slightly more silly than I want it to be. So I'm not using them. Because I roll like that when I want to.

I will assemble the elements to show a full front and back view soon. Just not right now.

Also, I think we are going to make some 3-D versions, as well. That'll be righteous.

Ghettoblaster searing your eyes.

I work in muted palettes a lot. Today I wanted to punch everyone in the face with color. I don't know why. I was just restless. Watch out, it happens more and more lately.

This is a work in progress, and I have no idea if it will continue in the direction it's currently headed. It's for Ghettopaper, which is a fun little project.

ghettoblaster : the eye bleeding beatbox.

So yeah.

Portrait of a Stink.

Here's a drawing of our dog Twink.

I just did it for fun. I'm stuck to my computer while I print a butt-load of stuff, so I thought I'd make the most of it.

sir twinkus stinkus the turd.

PS. I apologize to Atari, my other dog. I hate to play favorites, and I feel very bad about drawing one over the other, but he is just harder to draw.

Are those bells I hear (part 2)?

My sister didn't have any suggestions for changes. But I did. I especially didn't like the edge treatment. I was trying to compensate for registration issues, but I decided against it. Because it was stupid.

So here's the updated invite. It should be the final....

ta da.

Are those bells I hear?

This weekend I made a wedding invite for my little sister.

...gooooing to the chapel downtown opera house, and we're goooooing to get maaa-aa-aa-aaarried....

I sent it off to get her comments... so it's subject to change.

Congrats you crazy kids.

In the spirit of this being a process blog and all, here's the rough draft I sent the first day to give her an idea of the direction I was going....

hmmm, similar but different... amazing.

Phase Two.

Here's the back of the previously mentioned project.

Bet you thought I was going to draw a reverse image of the front? Pfft. Not likely. Bo-ring.

More to come.
